Na contramão do desejo da comunidade itajaiense, a primeira reunião da federalização do Porto de Itajaí foi realizada no domingo, 15.
Na oportunidade, foi indicado como representante do governo Lula o advogado João Paulo Tavares, ex-pré-candidato à prefeitura de Itajaí pelo PT. Ele vai comandar as tratativas e pode assumir a direção do terminal após a concretização dos trâmites.
Tavares tem passagem pela Ordem dos Advogados do Brasil (OAB) e foi presidente da subseção de Itajaí, além de conselheiro federal da entidade. No setor público, foi secretário de Administração, procurador-geral do município e diretor-presidente do Instituto de Previdência de Itajaí.
O nome do advogado foi definido durante a reunião de domingo, que teve a presença do presidente do Serviço Brasileiro de Apoio às Micro e Pequenas Empresas (Sebrae), Décio Lima, que também é ex-deputado federal da região e ex-candidato a governador de Santa Catarina.
Além de Décio Lima, segundo divulgado pelo portal ND+, esteve em Itajaí uma equipe da Companhia Docas do Estado de São Paulo (Codesp), que controla o Porto de Santos, para averiguar as condições do terminal. A Codesp é cotada como a possível futura administradora do Porto de Itajaí, papel que já exerceu na década de 90.
Naquele período, o controle do terminal local por uma das principais concorrentes gerou insatisfação dos portuários itajaienses. Segundo o advogado e especialista em direito portuário, Dr. Osvaldo Agripino, à época “era necessário ligar pra Santos para pedir uma resma de papel, por exemplo”.
Os problemas causados pela gestão externa resultaram na mobilização da comunidade e articulação política que culminou em um convênio de municipalização do porto, cujo prazo de validade vence no dia 31 de dezembro de 2024. O convênio teria sido encerrado ainda 2022, mas um termo aditivo de contrato prorrogou por dois anos a administração municipal.
Nesta terça-feira, 17, João Paulo Tavares viajará a Brasília para participar de uma reunião no Palácio do Planalto, onde será debatida a possível federalização.
